What is hypertension?

Hypertension – High blood pressure is one of the most common and dangerous health issues

which may put lives in danger. As getting older hypertension may lead to damage blood vessels.

Which may cause serious disease like heart stroke, heart disease, kidney disease, etc. it is the pressure in arteries which is higher than it should be, therefore it is defined as systolic blood

The pressure of 140 mmhg or greater, diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmhg or greater or taking

Antihypertensive medication.

What causes high blood pressure?

The main causes are:
  • Salt rich diet
  • Smoking
  • Stress and lack of exercise
  • Being overweight and obese
  • High intake of alcohol consumption
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Family history of blood pressure
  • Sleep apnea
  • Adrenal and thyroid disorders

What are the symptoms of hypertension?

If blood pressure is extremely high, symptoms to look out for are:
  • Severe headache
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Confusion
  • Vision issues
  • Rapid and irregular heartbeats
  • Blood in the urine
  • Chest pain
  • Pounding in neck and ear
  • Facial flushing
  • Throbbing sensation in the head

What are the precautions of hypertension?

  • Lose extra pound and watch measurements
  • Men are at risk if the waist measurement is >40 inches (102cm)
  • Women are at risk if the waist measurement is >35 inches (89cm)
  • Exercise regularly to lower blood pressure which includes walking, jogging, cycling, swimming or dancing.
  • Eat a healthy diet rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low-fat dairy products, etc.
  • Reduce salt intake in the diet.
  • Limit the amount of alcohol consumption.
  • Cut off on caffeine and its products.
  • Stress should be avoided.
  • Monitor the blood pressure at home and see the doctor regularly.
